Bayreuth 1934

 

 

While still a member of the choir of the Bayreuth Festival, in 1937 she was additionally engaged for the flower girl solo part in "Parsifal". Another member of this choir at that time was the - later much renowned - Rudolf Schock.

 

 

 

1937 was a fateful year for Margot Guilleaume. By no fault of her own, she had a severe accident with her motocycle in Bayreuth , which hospitalized her for eighteen months; several surgical intervents were required to save her badly damaged leg. Initially, she could not perform at all; her contract with the Hamburg State Opera was cancelled, with the option of a new contract upon her recovery.
